Mizoram continues to hold first position in malaria prevalence in India since 2024
Aizawl: Mizoram continues to hold the first position in malaria prevalence in the entire country, based on the Annual Parasite Incidence (API), as World Malaria Day was observed in the state on Saturday.The state programme officer-cum-additional director (malaria) under the state health services, Dr Lalzawmi, said Mizoram has maintained the highest position in malaria prevalence since 2024. “Though malaria prevalence has gone down to around 45% this year as compared to 2024, the state continues to hold the distinction of the highest malaria prevalence in the country,” Lalzawmi said.Southern districts of Siaha, Lawngtlai and Lunglei, as well as the north-western Mamit district, continue to report the highest prevalence of malaria till today, she added.
